Doula Fee

People often ask exactly what will I do as their doula. Below is a breakdown of exactly what I do and do not do. Please feel free to read it, and ask any questions you want to about my services.

As a your BIRTH DOULA I include the following:

Prenatal Visits:

1. An informational meeting between you, your partner, or any other person who will be with you during labor, and myself. At this meeting we can become acquainted, I can inform you of my background, training, and experience and you can describe your priorities, concerns fears and questions regarding your upcoming birth. This meeting does not obligate you to select me as your Doula. I encourage you to meet other doulas and to take some time before deciding whom you want.

2. Discussion of how you and your partner believe I can be most helpful to both of you.

3. Once, you have decided to go with me as you doula, we will have 1-2 prenatal visits to talk about the preparation of your Birth Plan/Vision, practice positions for labor, relaxation techniques such as massage, and internal and external visualization, and go over basics of breastfeeding.

4. Phone contact as needed.

5. A reliable method for you to reach me.

6. I am on call for you two weeks before your due date and two weeks after your due date.

7. Backup doula available if I have an emergency within my family or something unforeseen comes up. So far, I have never had to use a back up doula.

DURING YOUR LABOR:

8. Early labor phone contact for information and for us to decide where and when to meet. I usually need approximately one hour to get to you from the time you call.

9. I will meet you where we decide--at home, birth center, or hospital. I will stay with you from the time you want or need a Doula throughout the labor and birth of your baby.

10. I will use my knowledge and experience to provide you with physical comfort, emotional and educational support.

DURING YOUR POST PARTUM PERIOD:

12. I will stay with you until you and your family seems ready for quiet time together. I will help with the initial breastfeeding, if you so desire. All this usually takes approximately one to two hours.

13. I will contact you by phone to answer any questions, check on your well being, briefly review your labor and birth, and arrange to get together at a convenient time.

14. I will meet with you after the birth of your baby:

    1. to review the birth experience with you, compare notes, and clarify events that took place around you;
    2. to admire and answer questions about your baby; and
    3. to get feedback from you about my own role.

As a Doula, I do not:

1. Perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and others. I am there to provide only physical comfort, emotional support, and advocacy.

2. Make decisions for you. I will help you get the information necessary to make informed decisions. I will also remind you if there is a departure from your
Birth Plan.

3. Speak to the staff on your behalf. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff.

Doula Fee is $ 450.00

HypnoBirthing®
As a Certified HypnoBirthing® Consultant and Trainer, I offer both group and individual classes, (for those on bedrest or with other special circumstances), to those seeking natural childbirth through deep relaxation. HypnoBirthing® involves complete relaxation (not sleep, as the mother is fully aware) and the release of fear, anxiety, and tension throughout the labor process to avoid pain during birth. It is this calm relaxation that allows the body to function as nature designed it to, letting instinct take control. The woman's birth companion and her doula (if she has one), encourages her to follow her body's natural response through relaxation. I will also discuss the benefits of proper breathing, light touch massage, perineal massage, and kegel exercises. As a doula who supports HypnoBirthing® Moms, I can tell you with great honesty that IT WORKS! Group classes are held in five week sessions (2˝ hours sessions, one day per week).

Tuition: $275.00 includes textbook and CD

One on One classes - $ 350.00

Hiring me as a Doula and taking HypnoBirth classes is $ 625.00
