UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE ALERT
Do you know that soon there will be 'Health Care Community Meetings'
all over the US to learn what kind of health care system Americans want?
Yes, this is coming even though there is not much about it right this moment
in the news.
Congress has established the Citizens' Health Care Working Group to engage
Americans in a public debate about the health care delivery system, and to
present to Congress and the President say feedback. Communities of midwife need
to
inform their client base to be ready to answer the questions in a town hall
meeting or via the Citizens' Health Care Working Group web site
www.citizenshealthcare.gov
We need to be prepared. Here are the questions that will be asked.
~what health care benefits and services should be provided?
~how does the American public want health care delivered?
~how should health care be financed?
~what trade offs are the American public willing to make in either benefits
or financing to ensure access to affordable, high quality health care coverage
and services?
~what concerns you most about the health care system in America today?
~what have you seen in America's health care system that works well?
~what is you single most important recommendation to make to improve health
care for all Americans?
From the results of these questions the Working Group will develop
recommendations to present to Congress and the President in the fall of 2006,
followed
by Congressional Hearings on the recommendations. Midwives and midwifery
services need to be part of the recommendations if we hope to be a provider of
health care under a US National Health Plan. Represent midwifery. Get your
community ready to CLEARLY SAY THAT THEY WANT MIDWIFE SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE
NATIONAL HEALTH CARE PLAN.
What to do:
Prepare to answer the Citizen's Health Care Working Group questions to the
American people. Organize your families, friends, clients, neighbors and
communities to respond to the questions via the web site. Network with others
to
inform your communities and be part of the process to redesign America's Health
Care system. Midwife with women participation needs to be underway to
encourage wide representation. Join the Health Care Work for All Campaign –
Go to
the web site www.uhcan.org to learn more and sing up either as an organization
or as a health care provider. Net work with local state, regional and national
MIDWIFERY organizations, women’s groups and other health care providers.
Collaborate on events to activate your community. Stay ready and alert
especially if you live in a mayor city. BE READY TO ATTEND AND TO PROVIDE
FEEDBACK
ABOUT THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY MIDWIVES AT THE MEETINGS
Let's get national health to all and midwifery as a valued part of the care
of women.
